South Anna Spirit Rider Rock – Rules & Information

The South Anna Spirit Rider Rock is a great way to celebrate special occasions, show school pride, and spread positivity throughout our community! Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, a thank-you to a teacher, an encouraging message, or a shoutout to our students and staff, this is your chance to make a bold statement.

The Spirit Rider Rock is a community builder, a PTA fundraiser, and a way to promote school spirit. It is exclusively for current South Anna families.

How to Reserve the Rock

• Reservations are required and must be made through our website: Link Here.
• Dates are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Cost: $15 per day (3 p.m.–3 p.m.).
• You may begin painting the rock at 3 p.m. the day BEFORE your reservation so it is ready for the morning carpool line on your selected date.
• (Example: If your child’s birthday is April 15th, book April 15th. You can begin painting at 3 p.m. on April 14th.)
• Payment is due at the time of booking. No other forms of payment are accepted. No refunds will be issued.

Rules for Painting the Rock

• Only water-based paint is allowed. Oil-based paint is prohibited as it is difficult to cover.
• No business advertisements, religious messages, or political content.
• Do not paint the tree, grass, sidewalk, or parking lot.
• A parent or guardian must be present while painting.
• Do not climb on the rock.
• All messages must be positive, school-appropriate, and uplifting.
• Do not park on the grass. Please respect school property.
• The PTA reserves the right to remove or repaint any language or images deemed inappropriate.

Helpful Painting Tips

• You’ll need approximately one pint of paint with a roller or three cans of spray paint for the background.
• Dual primer and paint spray paint works well for solid coverage.
• You can free-hand your design or use stencils—acrylic paint and good brushes work great for details.
• Plan for about an hour to complete your painting.
• Bring a bucket of water and rags to clean brushes and hands.
