Letter From the President

Spirit Rider Families,

As my term as your PTA President comes to an end I am filled with such gratitude on the support from parents, staff, our community, and the current PTA board members. My vision was to always enhance the experiences, learning environment, and classroom supports. During my term programs have flourished; bringing in an additional 15 program visits for students. Spirit Nights have turned into a more interactive family experience such as VCU Basketball Night. I have witnessed a school come together and raise canned goods for families in need of food support over holiday breaks with our annual Turkey Bowl. I loved seeing the joy on the faces of spirit riders shopping at the new Holiday Shop while also providing a sensory shopping time for our SPED students. I hope my vision continues for all sprit riders to feel the impact of the PTA. My dearest gratitude and praise goes out to our Past president and this year’s VP of Programs Jennifer Smith. She showed me why we PTA, the ins and outs of being a PTA president, and most importantly the love for South Anna. Jennifer and our amazing VP of Fundraising Valerie Fields will be leaving South Anna. The impact they have had over the past five years shows the growth of the PTA now. They will truly be missed and forever treasured.

So, what is next?

I plan to support our next President April Payne next year. We have new PTA Board members Paige Cantor, Melia Motley, and Alexis Ragland that will bring new ideas and events next year! I will remain on the board as your VP of Advocacy, fighting for policy changes for our school. I hope to see you all on Capitol Day next year! I will also serve on the Hanover County Council PTA as secretary and oversee Programs. I will continue to advocate for South Anna Spirit Riders. I look forward to seeing you all at Open House in August! Don’t forget to start on your Reflections entries; the theme for next year is “I Belong”. That theme is so fitting because I believe every student deserves to feel that they belong at South Anna Elementary. It’s never a goodbye! I hope you all have an amazing Summer!!
